From the first time I spoke with Lance and Gwen I knew they were unique people. They both had this beautiful energy that radiated from them, even over the phone. As soon as I met them for the first time on their wedding day, all my initial impressions were confirmed. They both had smiles that lit up a room, they immediately made me feel comfortable and welcome— occasionally I felt like a guest at their wedding rather than the photographer, working. Lance owns an acting studio, which is where he met Gwen four years ago. During the reception they showed a short film about the way they met, it was hilarious and so incredibly well done. It summed up their relationship, goofy, fun, but also caring, supportive and always full of love.
The day started with me arriving at a house the bridal party was getting ready at. The whole room smelled like hairspray, it was a Texas wedding after all. Every small hurdle Gwen took with grace and positivity. After final touches were done and a celebratory champagne toast we made our way to the church. The church was at La Villita, near the riverwalk in San Antonio. I hadn't been since I was a kid, and forgot how charming the area was. The streets were quaint and scattered with tiny stores and boutiques.

The church was small and intimate. Gwen and Lance each wrote their own vows and it was one of my favorite parts of the whole day. Something Lance said about service really stuck with me, even while I was in the zone photographing. It was a really beautiful moment.

After the ceremony Lance remarked how lucky we were that it wasn't raining while we did the couples photos, literally at that moment it started to rain. So many other people would have been upset, but they just rolled with everything. And it was perfect. And I got to use my cool new umbrellas.

Throughout the ceremony you could tell how much this couple is loved. Jokes were cracked, tears were shed, and I witnessed the best group hug ever.

Lance, Gwen, congratulations to you both. I wish you a lifetime of happiness and love. Thank you for letting me be part of your special day, it was an honor to photograph it. Enjoy your honeymoon (and eat lots of croissants!!)
